i didn't notice any previous posts so sorry if i missed anything! i'm planning on getting married on stj, have been there every year for the past few years, and love it. i'm just not familiar with best options for hosting a large party/reception. we would prefer to do something in cruz bay and the group would be about 100 ppl. any guidance would be great!

In my opinion you are going to need a wedding planner. There are several in the phone book. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.

With a group that large you are going to need some help. There are not a lot of places that will accomodate that large of a group, I think that the Lime Inn does weddings on Saturdays and perhaps you can convince a smaller restaurant to shut down for such a large group, but you will need all the help you can get with planning that on island.

Congratulations!

Tho I work for a wedding company in STT, I too, feel you should use a wedding planner in STJ. This will make your life a lot easier and make your wedding planner worry free! CONGRATULATIONS!
How nice for so many people to join you in your new adventure in life!

I would agree with the others that you'll want some help with a group that size.

We got married on STJ in November and even though it was just the two of us, I'm glad we chose to use some local help. We did it because I wanted someone who had the local contacts I would have had to search the internet for. You'll want it to keep your day and your visit as stress-free as possible. We used Katilady to help us. Feel free to PM me if you want more specific info. I know of a few people who used Stacy Mulcare. Some had good things to say, some did not.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

Thanks for sharing, any/all information is welcome and I would love to hear what feedback you have on anyone you've used or know of. I figured we would have to use a wedding planner and have seen Stacy's name come up in my research. I'm also considering Mary Batolucci with Island Style Weddings but haven't seen as much about her. Thanks again for any help!!

carley: glad you got the message! Working with a wedding planner is the only way to go, particularly with a group the size of yours (!) and they'll work within your budget and create a grand epic or a simple affair. If you do a search on this forum's search engine (just type in "wedding planners" or "weddings") you'll come up with many suggestions and feedback.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials and may the day itself be everything you've ever dreamed about. And as time goes by may the joy of the occasion captured on tape (yeah, I know, tape is pretty obsolete but I'm simply OLD!) continually remind you via replay why you married each other and made all those promises to each other to deal with everything that comes up through times both good and bad. Cheers!

In addition to considering restaurants for the reception you might also look into meeting rooms or a ball room at Westin or Caneel, or in Cruz Bay maybe at Gallows Point Resort. Check out the St. John Weddings page on the site; there are planners, photographers and caterers listed.

Congrats!
