MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE JUST ENGAGED IN ST. THOMAS LAST WEEK AND HAVE DECIDED TO WED THERE NEXT AUGUST. DO ANY OF YOU KNOW A GOOD PLACE TO TIE THE KNOT. WE WANT INFORMAL ON THE BEACH/OR OUTSIDE OVERLOOKING THE BEACH THAT CAN ACCOMODATE 30-40 PEOPLE. WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR A CATERER. WE ARE TRYING TO STAY AWAY FROM USING A HOTEL OR RESORT UNLESS THERE IS A SMALL ONE WHERE THERE WILL NOT BE A BUNCH OF TOURISTS GAWKING AT THE CEREMONY. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

You can order the vacation planner from the ad on the top of this site and for $1.00 more you can order their wedding planner. Might help.

Billy: Congrats and best wishes! Most of the beach weddings are on hotel beaches for the convenience of parking, catering, etc. Also all beaches are public, so you really can't prevent people from gawking. Believe me, they gawk in a nice, romantic way. Besides, in August you probably won't have to worry about tons of tourists. Here are a few favs (smallish, could accomodate reception there): Bolongo, Bluebeard's/Limetree, Secret Harbour. Also could look into Island Beachcomber, Emerald Beach, Magen's Bay. A good wedding planner/coordinator is worth her weight in gold- they have done it all and should be able to match up your needs, budget and dreams with the perfect spot!

Billy please accept this gracefully. You cannot have a wedding in a public place and then complain about gawkers. Remember it is a public place. The weddings I have don't get any hassles just a polite smile and a round of applause after the ceremony.

Congrats and enjoy your wedding.

Congrats Billy,

Have you considered using a Villa? I know of one in St. John that is wonderful for weddings. We had our wedding there. St. John was much quieter and more relaxed than St. Thomas. It is an easy ferry ride from St. Thomas. The house sleeps 10, so you can have the wedding there as well as take care of some of your guest. We enjoyed the time with our family in the house during and after the wedding. The managment also set us up with cars and a catering co. They were very helpful. I found the website. I hope this helps.

Good Luck with your plans, Becky
