Getting hitched Nov-04. thought i would put a post up and see where the best locations are. So far the most impressive package is at the Marriot (frenchmans Reef). We like the idea of a decorated gazebo with access to the beach. Any opinions, thoughts, experiences are needed

Have you thought about renting a villa? http://www.villadawn.com/st_croix_rental.htm You would be surprised how affordable it can be!

Just returned Monday from attending a wedding at Caneel Bay resort on St. John - unbelievable!! You have to see this place. No phones, No TV's in the room...but who cares.

Also stayed at Frenchman's reef for 3 days prior to going over to St. John (second time at the Marriott for us).

Although the Marriott is nice (especially the Morning Star down on the beach) it doesn't match the charm of Caneel Bay...but the Mariott will definitely be more cost effective.

Also, I believe that November is still off-season so rates should be fairly low. I booked a room at the Morningstar (garden view) back in June for 3 days mid-week and the rate was an incredibly low of $137/ night

Another option is the Ritz Carlton on the other side of the Island. The people that just got married in St. John looked into the Ritz, but ultimately chose the Caneel bay resort.

We married in March on Hawksnest Beach, and had a chartered catamaran pick us up for the reception. Nothing like being barefoot on the beach for your wedding and then in a swimsuit for a relaxing sail / reception along the north shore of St John!!

Only problem for you though... no gazebo at that beach.

Has anyone had an affordable wedding at either the Ritz or Caneel? I would love to get married at either place, but have gotten quotes from both that just about knocked my socks off. $69k for Caneel, and really high prices for catering at the Ritz. I know you pay for beautiful settings and great service- just wondering if anyone found an affordable way to tie the knot at either place?

thanks!

Hello Jay,

Frenchmans Reef gazebo is very pretty, sort of a small garden type set up and their packages hotel/wedding is a good deal. The beach is a short walk/elevator ride away. Magens Bay is a popular choice for beach weddings on St. Thomas if you wanted to go with a private coordinator and a total beach wedding.

Congrats!!

Jay: For affordable beach weddings, you might look at Emerald Beach, Island Beachcomber, Carib Beach, Bolongo Bay, Secret Harbour, all on the sunset side. Or Sapphire on the other side of the island.
