Just began the research - planning a wedding in St. Thomas... We'll have no more than 15 guests with limited budget and had a few questions:

1. Is it worth to stay in an 'all-inclusive' hotel in st Thoms? Or is the food pretty cheap? or should we just rent a villa (not sure if my fiance and I can handle 7 days next-room stay with all the relatives and friends though...)
2. Any suggestions on the hotels?
3. Time wise - is it better to do a wedding during the summer or beggining of December (off-peak season and no rain)?
4. My initial thought was to do a wedding in a hotel, but they don't offer quite a location that I want, so I was thinking of renting a villa for the wedding ceremony and order catering... would that be too expensive?
5. Any suggestions on who to contact for the weddign arrangements?

Sorry for so many questions - any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

🙂

Hello Olga,

1. Good is not pretty cheap but you can find less expensive places to eat or pricey places. An all inclusive is a good idea if that is what you want, that is what is most important. If you don't want to have to think about where to eat and want to focux on your wedding then go that route. Otherwise there are lots of great restaurants around the island that are worth trying so if you choose not to go all inclusive you will certainly be able to enjoy the variety the island offers. A villa is a great option; perhaps rent a villa for all your quest and you and your fiance stay in a hotel nearby... that way you have your privacy while your guest are all together and easier to plan things with.

2. Hotels you might look at; Sugar Bay for all inclusive option, Secret Harbor is another good option, Morningstar also if you want beach front or if not then Frenchmans Reef (they are both next to each other and Marriott properties), you might also look into whether a few timeshare rentals at somewhere like Bluebeards Beach Club are open and you can get a few rentals to accomodate your group or they also have Elysians Resort. Lots of options - what type of place are you looking for and budget?

3. Rain in the middle of summer (June, July) and December would be about the same in terms of chances of rain showers. Not a big difference in those months. As far as off season, you would get a better rate on hotels rooms in the summer months which is off season for us then in December which is the beginning of high season.

4. Not sure the prices on renting a villa for a day. There was a discussing recently about a property on the northside of the island that was a garden setting that host weddings and events, you might look into that... here is the info. that was posted

"Villa Botanica, and it is STUNNING. 5 1/2 acres of gorgeously landscaped grounds. I found it by digging around on Google. It is indeed owned by the folks who own Bryan's Nursery, and it's so beautiful! They aren't "officially" open, from what I can gather, and their website (www.villabotanica.com) is still under construction, but you can reach them at 340-774-1136."

You can also contact some wedding planners and see if they have any villas they work with that suit your needs and wants.

Olga,

Check out www.weddingstheislandway.com.

You can see their ceremony sites. They have a beautiful one on a garden terrace overlooking the bay and other islands.

The wedding coordinator is supurb! Her name is Barbara.

Good luck to you!
