We will be getting married in St. Thomas in Sept. arriving via cruise ship. I'm looking for a beauty shop close to the ship docks and Havensite mall to get my Hair and makeup done. I was hoping some locals there could help me out and reccomend someone.

Thanks

There is a place across the street from the dock at Buccaneer Mall- Just Cuts- 340-776-2510. Teresa is the owner.

May I ask why you aren't going thru the ship salon? I am a wedding coordinator and this is how most of our cruise ship brides get their hair done! I have seen some very nice work, and never bad! I would think this would make your life a lot easier on the day of your wedding. Not to discourage local business, just seems practical to me! 🙂

Hi Blue moon!
There is a great company by the name of Sugar and Spice Artistry! They are a nomadic beauty services company that caters to you on site at your choice of location... if you are getting married at a hotel or villa.. they will come to you!
check them out at Sugarandspice-vi.com

I agree with Sherri, sometimes the fewer moving parts the better. If you hire a wedding planner locally, they can set up everything from the rooter to the tooter... if you are watching your budget, you'll take on more work and perhaps more stress.

I would recomend:

Heather at Monicas Hair Salon at Crowne Bay Marina #340-774-1944- she did my wedding hair and was great!

And Kristina for makeup:

VI visitors, please do business with companies registered with our local Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs. That's my suggestion. You may search their listing here: http://www.dlca.gov.vi/bussearch.asp

This does not guarantee anything, but the company mentioned will at least be accountable to the community and to you too!

Hi Blue Moon- Although I agree with lip that Kathy from Just Cuts is GREAT with hair-(she's my preference), I do think that Sherrie is right. You're probably best-off to have a salon on the ship do your hair and make-up. This for two reasons: #1- I don't know of any establishment on the island that specializes in make-up and #2 I believe that the hair needs to be done BEFORE applying the make-up.
Anyway, best wishes to you!
