Hi, I am planning on getting married on St. Thomas. We are trying to set a date, and I am wondering what the best time would be to have our wedding. We would like to stay away from the island during the hurricane season, and I was thinking about either late October, or late December. But I was wondering if it was really crowded after or around Chrismas, and what the weater and the water was like at this time. Please Help.

Hello Manda,

Scroll up to the top of this page, there is a weather link in the header area. Our weather section has averages by month for temperatures, rainfall... also info. on water temperature and hurricanes. It should cover your questions regarding weather.

December is busy, however the crowd factor really depends on where you go. If its a day with 7 cruise ships in port and you decide to go to Havensight or Charlotte Amalie to shop - there will be a lot of people. Likewise if you went to a beach popular with cruise passengers like Coki or Magens then they would be well populated to crowded. But if on those days you head to a more off the beaten path beach you may just be one of a few dozen people on the beach or if its really off the beaten path you may just be the only one there! The crowds you can plan around. You may look at price differences between October and December for airfare and hotels and see if that affects your plans any.

Congrats and Happy Planning!!

Thank you for you help. We were thinking about getting married on Bluebeards beach. Does this area tend to be crowded? I was also thinking about using a company called Island Wedding Services http://www.islandweddingservices.com/locations.htm. Have you heard anything about them? I found them on a link at the St. Thomas skyride site. I also know that St. Thomas is a US territory, but is Thanksgiving a holiday there also?

so you want to avoid town at that time for a wedding ...of course you want to enjoy festivities though!

also found a wedding coordinator who was really good i will post later when i find her site

weather wise i would pick december i love it then...keep in mind the sun going down early! short days!

god bless

Hello,

Yes, Miracle on Main Street is December 15th this year. For those unfamiliar with it; its a day-evening when the shops in downtown Charlotte Amalie stay open late and offer specials sales for the holidays. There are live bands playing along the main street, vendors selling drinks/food and local crafts, usually a few choirs and carolers as well as dance groups.

Bluebeards is a fairly quiet resort so you will have relative privacy at the beach for the wedding, however I would not suggest staying there based on the numerous reviews I have read and what I have seen first hand. That beach is NOT the stereotypical Caribbean blue water you see in many photos.

After October is a good time because the winds pick up a bit and the island cools down. If you are looking for a secluded beach with gorgeous waters and seclusion there are a few of those on St Thomas but it depends on the size of the crowd and if there are older people coming. Personally I'd avoid Magens because you won't have privacy and sadly people are not respectful AT ALL.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Honeymoon Beach on Water Island is a beautiful small beach for wedding ceremony and reception event. Honeymoon Beach faces west so the sun would set in the right spot. Resident and visitors of WI are very respectful for wedding parties. There is a nice pavillion building. Heidi Erwig (Heidi Honeymoon Grill) is a gourmet chef on Water Island who could do the food/catering. You can make arrangements with WI ferry for transport (approx. 5 minute ferry ride out of Crown Bay Marina/STT to WI). I'm just throwing this idea out there.

You know that is a very good idea,it always slips my mind because of the hassle getting over there but I bet it wouldn't be that bad since it is a small ferry owner.

Thanks for all you help. Have you ever heard of island wedding services? I attached the like up top. I am courious because I am thinking about going with them, but I want to make sure that they are reilable. And that my day will not be ruined by a bad wedding coordinator. I will also think about water island, it will be a very small wedding party, but I want the cermony to be very private and secluded. That is why we are getting away to the islands to do it.

I was also not planning to stay at bluebeards beach. I was hoping to stay at secret harbor. I have seen good things about secret harbor.

Hey,
Does anyone know of a wedding service that will do the wedding on water island? I like the privacy of the island but I have been unable to find anyone that will do the cermony there.
Thank you

Tasha, I haven't forgotten about you. I've asked a couple of folks and am waiting for them to get back to me. I'm on my 14th year of celebrating my wedding event and living the married life (a "Labor of Love". (smile) So, I've asked some folks to let me know who has / will officiate an event on Water Island and provide a wedding service. I'm sure there's a few folks, but its just not something I'm familiar with directly. Anyone on this board have recommendation and know of wedding service provider on WI?

I'm sure StuScott doesn't want to toot his own horn, but he (and his wife) are wedding officiants/coordinators. Although I haven't used their services for a wedding (although I did for a charter), I have read many glorious things on this board about his services. Do a search to see. His website is www.usviservices.com. Water Island is just a ferry ride away from STT, so I'm sure he could handle it.
