Hi Everyone
Looks like rain this week on STT & STX. What is the weather like there right now? Rain.... Does that mean showers all the time or just scattered showers with some sunshine. This is my last vacation before I have my first baby and I wanted to sit & relax by the pool & on the beach and get a little tanned?!?
Thanks in advance
Suzanne :-))
Weather on STT is beautiful. Scattered isolated showers, nothing much different predicted for the next week. The weather forecast ALWAYS says rain!!!
Same on STX. Sunny with occasional short showers.
We are leaving tommorrow for STX and I made the mistake of checking the tropical update. Boy, it seems quite active out there. With all these tropical waves, I wonder if I should be concerned. I always laugh when others send these posts but now it's my turn.
The weather in the islands always reads 30 percent chance of showers no matter what the day is like. When its higher then 30 percent is when you are more likely to have wet weather. The weather is unpredictable just like anywhere else on this planet. At least in the VI its warm while its wet.
As an update to my previous post, we've had several rain belts coming through today, some of them accompanied by Thor's rumblings.
HOWEVER, one thing one has to undestand about these belts is that it depends on where exactly you are, which is a little hard for many to understand. I'm on the East End of STT in a particular area which was intermittently doused today on and off but with the inbetweens so brightly sunny and with everything drying up so fast that you'd hardly notice anything had happened.
Others on the East End who were on a slightly different trajectory got only an occasional drizzle today. I can drive down the main road here being pelted by rain on a wet road and then go over the hill to find a wet/dry demarcation in the road.
I can go to the supermarket under brilliantly sunny skies and exit 15 minutes later to discover that it's pissing down with rain and of course I left my car windows open (yes, I should know better after all my years here but I sometimes get complacent and, yes, stupid...)
20%, 30%, 40% - the forecasters cover their bases as much as possible based on minimal margins but unless there's a major tropical disturbance which covers a major area cutting a huge swath across these relatively itty bitty dots in the ocean, you're not going to benefit much from fussing over what you see on television's tropical updates!
Yes, phyl, you did make a mistake! Enjoy your vacation!
