Hey all.. We're leaving fot STJ next wednesday. Ive been looking at the weather and some reports say rain wed-sun..EEK! I know last year when we went it would rain a little then the sun would be out again. MY question is for the islanders and frequent visitors...Has anyone else heard about the weather? Is it likely to rain hours on end? Im nervous and I really dont want our vacation ruined with the rain..Im from OHIO and we get enough of the PRECIP here...Just wondering if anyone has any input..tHANKS!!

Calm down 🙂
We are kind of in a drought right now - great for visitors, not great for those of us with cisterns 🙁 You should have seen those water delivery trucks yesterday - they couldn't get refilled fast enough and onto their next delivery. We have had no rain to speak of for a very long time even though weather.com says 40% chance of rain everyday (it say's that year round I think it's stuck 🙂 )We did have rain this morning (5am) for about 10 mins and rain Wednesday morning (5am) for 10 mins but that's it. Now having said all that I hope I haven't just said words of doom for all of you travelling, but it would be nice if we did get some rain soon - sure would green us up as were looking alittle brown right now. So stay calm your'e going to be fine 🙂

Who knows the island better than someone like Pia who lives there? I would add though that this rain 10 minutes here and stop does create some spectacular rainbows, and ultimately adds to the places charm. To get a live look at how quickly and spotty the rain is, take a look at this link. Just tupe in St. Thomas and then be sure to click on the doplar map. Once the map comes up, click animate and you will see how true Pia is. Enjoy your trip!

I have to say, this is a question that cracks me up. What would you do if we said it was raining right now? Cancel your trip? 😀 We still could use some rain, things are dry. It is pretty windy today. The Rolex Regatta is in its second day,and I bet they are enjoying the breeze!

If you think you are going to be bummed, you will be. If you think you are going to have a great time, rain, snow or sleet (and I can guarantee you will *not* have at least two of the three!!) you will!

Honestly, I used to say it never rains all day long. But we had a couple of days in November the last few years when in did. But November is the rainiest month. And the chances that it would rain all day long- even in November-are faint.

Relax, relax. After 20+ years of at least annual VI visits (sometimes 2-3X a year) , I have ALWAYS gotten sunburned. FORGET what the weather report says - unless it says a hurricane is coming. And, typically, it is raining when I arrive (not sure what kind of welcome tradition the VI has for me, but it usually rains when my plane touches down)....but it is sunny by the time I reach my villa and I am good and burned by the end of day 2.

Sun, sun, sun.......

IGNORE the weather reports. Go and enjoy the sunshine.
