Hi, I'm brand new to the board and haven't had time to navigate through older messages. My boyfriend and I are taking a trip in mid August to St. Thomas for 7 days and I'm quite concerned with weather conditions. I'm booking through Expedia, but they offer a protection plan that doesn't cover hurricanes and weather related discrepancies. Is there a recommendation for affordable travelers insurance?
We're both running on a tight budget for the trip, any good cheap ideas that 2 young kids can benefit from?
Thanks so much!
There are two companies that offer such service TravelSafe and TravelGuard. I don't have the hone numbers handy, but i think you can find themm on lline.
www.insuremytrip.com is where I send my guests.

Not sure what you can do as far as insurance, but August is a relatively hit-or-miss month. July sees a tropical storm or hurricane once every seven years on average. August sees a tropical storm or hurricane once every 5 years on average. Right now, the tropics are quiet and shear is strong, so no worries. You can pretty much depend on 1-2 days of overcast or rainy weather per seven days in August.
Of course, it all depends on what kind of risk taker you are. You have a roughly 81% of perfect hot, humid sunny days all week and a 9% chance of complete crap all week. The missing % is due to hit or miss small storms or tropical waves that bog down...but that is why you're saving so much on the trip!
Overall, if it costs less than $200 to get insurance, go for it. If it is more, than risk it and enjoy the chance of it all!!
