It looks like all the weather sites say it's raining ALL next week - does it mean soaking rain all day, where you have to stay inside, or can you still snorkel and enjoy your visit (hike in rain jackets OK!) with "off and on" rain? We're coming in July 8-13. I am hoping for a few nice, sunny days - let me know some insight in what this "rainy" forecast really means! THANKS!

I've been worried about the weather too, we're coming for the 12th-18th, but i've been looking at some of the Webcams that you can find for STT and it looks like there is plenty of sunshine mixed in with the clouds. I think it's more isolated showers than all day downpours each day. I think you can find the webcam link on VINow.com

Don't let the forecasts worry you. We used to get paranoid before our trip when we saw forecasts calling for 50% chance of rain on most days of our vacation but we've never had a day washed out. This will be our 10th trip to St John and our 5th year in a row. It will be hit or miss and usually any rain comes and goes quite quickly. We'll be on St John/St Thomas from 7/8 to 7/17. Enjoy your trip.....

Thanks for the tips, we're SO READY TO GET THERE, rain or shine!! We're there from 7/8 - 7/13, only 5 days, so a little rain might make us relax a little, instead of trying to see / do too much in a few short days - wish we were staying til 7/17. (Work gets in the way of fun sometimes, doesn't it?) Enjoy your trip, as well!

The best thing that you can do for yourself is to stop reading those weather forecasts. If you're not going during peak hurricane season (and you're not), no good will come of reading those things. You're not going to cancel your trip. You'll only make yourself worry. The weather will be fine. You'll be fine. All will be well.

I will also be in St. John from July 8 to the 15th - been there before during different seasons and love this message board - one area I refuse to look at is the weather outlook - in the past I use to check the weather when going to various places and it always showed rain and it never happens. I am so ready for this trip - 13 in our group. Remember everyone to definitely go to Woody's...

I have been here for 9 days and have had a heavy shower a few times but they only last a few minutes. Last night we had rain for a couple of hours and today they called for the sme but had a beautiful day!

Dont fret the weather.

I really hate to do this to all you weather-worriers but there is really bad news on the horizon.

Global warming has resulted in the North Pole icecaps melting at an unprecedented rate. Due to a most peculiar configuration of tidal patterns and wind shifts, it is estimated that the United States Virgin Islands will, between July 8 and 13th, experience a major snowfall followed by icy rain.

USVI residents on all three islands are scurrying to find snow tires and ice treads. Local radio announcer, "De Macho Man!" said, "It's a very real concern right here in, "America Paradise," and we be right here wid de update, no problem m'son."

Cheers!

Too funny! Like everybody, I read this board for all the great tips. We're honeymooning on STJ 7/30 - 8/5, so yeah, 1/2 an eye is on the weather but I refuse to worry. Now I need to go searching for more info on Woody's!

Well, you know, bad weather can hit SJ but not STT or STX or Water Island and all configurations.

Bad weather can hit all islands sometimes and then sometimes bad weather can hit on any island but it depends on which part of the island you're on whether you get squelched or not. You can often be deluged at point A and then drive a quarter mile down the road with windshield wipers on full speed and then come across a demarcation line on the road, beyond which is dry road and pristinely sunny skies.

By the way, verna, forget about shipping down the snowblower (maybe the snow boots!) I already figured out that I can probably replace the trimmer cord on my trusty weedwhacker with a large non-serrated heavy plastic blade attachment which can at least churn up the snow by the front door to provide a path to get to my car and then I'll go from there...

Cheers to all! And, of course, have a wonderful vacation!
