I know nobody can predict the weather, but I am wondering?? My daughter is getting married on 6/18/09 so we have been following the weather there. It looks like STT has been having alot of rain lately? I just checked and it shows dark clouds and rain, up to 6/11/09 . I had heard that it doesn't rain all day, when it does rain, but has the rain recently been lasting longer??? The wedding is at 10:00 am. Again I know weather can't be predicted, just wondering if there has been more rain than normal?

Larry,
Were you watching the weather before now and did you see sunny days listed for the VI?

Just curious....

I have never seen sun listed. In ALL of my years going down to the VI....and back when I used to pay attention to the weather channel before going, it was always shown as rainy days ahead. What's really fun is to be on island and in the middle of a sunny day as you are nursing your recent sunburn and lathering more sunscreen to return to the beach or pool, to turn on CNN and look at what they show for "today's forecast" in the VI --- they make it look like a miserable, rainy mess.....and it's blazing sun all day --- good for a laugh. I think they pick up on the morning shower and that throws the forecast into a rain prediction mode. It has been that way for years.

Stop watching it - you are wasting your time. You're better served by surfing the internet for rum cocktail recipes and practicing those 🙂

Congratulations and best wishes on the big event!

I was married on Magens Bay and was worried that it might rain on my wedding day...and then someone told me something that took all my worries away: Wet knots are harder to untie. 🙂 Rain or shine, your daughter will have a beautiful wedding on a beautiful island. Enjoy every moment of it! 😎

In the over two decades that I've been here there is no doubt that the "normal" weather pattern has been changing. If you want to get really technical, the weather patterns all over the world have likewise been changing. It's no surprise to me that global warming is slowly taking its toll but I'm simply not willing or able to enter into a full-fledged discussion on that score. I see what's around me here, in my home.

To go a bit off topic, mongooses were all around just a few years ago. They were all over the place. A virus decimated their population. The mongoose's main prey were the ground dove eggs and the benign local snakes. The ground doves over several years learned well and got off the ground and built their nests a little higher up but they still were not immune as their natural predators learned the ropes.

Since the mongoose population has diminished, the local benign snakes have multiplied. For the first 10 years in my present location I rarely saw a snake. In the past two years I've rescued probably two-score and ten which the cats have brought in as "playthings!"

I confess that seeing the ground doves so much more comfortable is most gratifying. They're out there doing that awesome, "coo-co, coo-coo" in the morning. Cheers!

as i told you before, what would you do different if it rains? Do what the previous writer said, enjoy the moment, RAIN OR SHINE. It will be a great wedding.

Where did you decide to get married?

Hi, Nancy!

Your daughter will have an amazing wedding on Magens! Tell her to enjoy every second of the planning, even the stressful moments. 🙂 It threatened to rain on the day of our wedding, but the clouds passed over and it didn't. All I kept thinking was, wow, look where we are getting married, and I knew we were having the wedding of our dreams. 🙂

o.k., so I am lame and don't know how to attach pics on here... :S So I will send you a private message and hopefully I can attach them to that! Hope it works...

My husband and I were married on Megans Bay July 3rd ~ 12 years ago! We will be there this year for our anniversary! It was an awesome wedding, the pictures are amazing! I wouldn't have changed it for anything! I don't recall having any rain the entire week we were there (but of course, that WAS 12 years ago!) 🙂 Have an awesome time! and Congrats!

Nancy,
The countdown is on! Hmm... I think I heard Tina talking to you just yesterday saying "didn't I send you that weather blip"? lol! She talks about you very admirably and is looking forward to finally meeting you, I wish I were doing your daughter's wedding! Bluwater's advice is spot-on as always! You must be SO excited that the time is drawing near, if I am in area, I will drop by and introduce myself.
Congrats!

Sherri,
Yes, we are all so excited!! Amy (the bride) is my only child, so this will be the only time that I will be a part of such a glorious occasion and I can't wait! It has been a year of planning (the wedding in the VI, plus a reception back home upon our return) , but Tina and yourself have made everything even more special! (I took your advice on Amalie Car Rental-they sound absolutely wonderful!- they will be waiting at the airport for us, with a sign! How special is that!). I look forward to meeting Tina- and please stop by the wedding- I would love to meet you too! I intend on keeping up with this website after my return home. I hope to be able to ANSWER some questions, to "pay it forward" for all of the GREAT advice that I have received here! I will be recommending "Weddings the Island Way to everyone who wants to have a wonderful experience planning their "Destination Wedding." Please give Tina a big hug for me and tell her how much I appreciate EVERYTHING!
See you soon! (we are leaving in 3 more days!!!!!!)
🙂 Nancy

Hi again Sherri,
Hey could you tell me again about the lady that one of these posters had gottten Lobster from? And also the Key lime Pie? I think they had mentioned your name?
Also, I sent an email to Tina regarding a cell phone, but I thought I would post on here too?
My cell phone company will charge me $1.95/ minute to call home, while in the VI. It was suggested that I rent a phone for a week while in the VI. Do you have any suggestions???
Thanks,
🙂 Nancy

Hi Sherri,
Did I read on one of these posts that you got some lobsters for someone visting??? If so, could you also give me their name and number too!

Thanks Sherri! We are leaving in the morning! Yeah!!!! We should be there around 2:00 pm. I am getting a rental from Amailie and they seem so nice! They said they will be waiting at the airport with a sign and they are so nice, that they are going to have a sign that will read, "the Future Mr. & Mrs. Hawks" Isn't that funny???? My daughter will be so surprised!!!! I love doing those surprises, it is so fun to see the look on their faces - I can't wait! Thanks for recommending them- yes they were a little more, but I think that the extra touches will be greatly appreciated!!!

🙂 Nancy
