We are coming to St John next week and I keep looking at the weather forecast. It looks like it's supposed to rain everyday and all day for at least 3 of those days. I'm hoping that doesn't mean no sun for those days. I know we can't do anything about the weather but I was hoping maybe some locals could tell me this is a normal forecast for this time of year and not to worry. We've been planning this trip since March and now that it's finally here, I'm depressed about the forecast.
Ya, I hear this a lot from the newbies that travel with us. "Rain every day? Lets cancel the trip!" Here's my pat answer:
1) 60% chance of rain means that it will rain on 60% of the entire region. Sail or drive between the clouds and pick a beach that's in the sun.
2) Go snorkeling when the sun is shining AND it's raining. Pretty cool.
3) Sometimes it does rain all day in November. This is SPF 100. Go to the pub.
Cheers, RickG
November is traditionally more rainy than, say, March or April, but I wouldn't worry. It rarely rains all day...usually just a passing shower and then you're good to go! Just keep in mind that with more rain comes more mosquitos, so carry some bug spray with you at all times...have fun!
Thank you for both for your calming responses. We are so looking forward to visiting the island for the first time and plan on snorkeling to our content. And bug spray is packed!
Thanks again.....Cindy
We just returned Wed. night from St. John. Weather was great but occasionally a cloud or two comes over you and rains a bit. The sun returns to dry off the rain-have no fear!!
So you should be back from your trip soon. How was the weather? I would love to hear from you! We are leaving on Saturday and it looks like showers from Sat to Wed and 60% chance precipitation. I am praying my brother Rick G is correct!
