Hi
I was just planning a trip to St Thomas for Oct 23rd for 5 nights. I know it is still in the time frame for hurricanes but.. What is generally the weather like at that time? Thanks for any input.

The weather here doesn't change but about 5 or 6 degrees throughout the year. But, for more detailed info, click the "Weather" link in the upper right corner of the page...

I've visited St John in Feb and in late October. The weather wasn't much different between the two months, but the big difference was that in October I had the place almost to myself. I stayed at Concordia and, besides the live-in staff, I think there were only two other guests. In Feb there were crowds everywhere. I'm going back for two weeks in October (15th - 29th) and I can't wait... See you on the beach!

Hey Charly- what did you think of Concordia? We're going to Ecotents for the first time during the first week in Nov and have stayed at Maho three times. What did you think of the Concordia ecotents (assuming you weren't at their condos?

Hi, I am glad to hear that its not crowded in October. We are going from Oct 15th too for a week. I hope the weather is nice and sunny. Do you know if most restaurants are open by then? We can't wait for our vacation to get here.

I've stayed in a Maho tent and an Echotent (I think I was in 2a), and the Echotent was much better. The Echotent was bigger and it had a solar shower - I got real tired of the cold showers at Maho. But, the biggest difference was the view. At Maho my tent was in the woods, but my Echotent overlooked both Drunk Bay and Salt Pond Bay. You could hear the surf crashing below and at night there was a continuous parade of brightly lit cruise ships sailing on the horizon. And, if at all possible, make an effort to be there when there's a full moon. Spectacular!! Final word of caution... my sister visited this past July and said that the tents have begun to show some wear, so this year I'm going to try a condo.

Maria, I never had any problem with the weather. Somedays late in the afternoon you could see squalls building at sea and some of them would make it all the way to shore. They were fun to watch from my deck, and it was amusing to try and guess which ones would make it to shore and which would pass the island by. Those that made it to shore never contained much in the way of rain (I was on the dry side of the island). As for restaurants, some will probably be closed. There were two that I really wanted to try out in Coral Bay - Miss Lucy's and Sputnik (for breakfast), but both were closed. I split my dinning between Ship Wreck Landing, Pickles (breakfast), and Skinny Legs (Bleu Cheese Burger - yes!), with a couple of lunches in Cruz Bay. This time I would like to try Tage (not sure where it is), Chloes, Island Blues, and perhaps Morgan's Mango - they all sound great.

Thanks Charly! We'll see how bad the wear is on the Ecotents. We did notice how bad they were getting at Maho which is one reason we decided not to stay there anymore. I appreciate the info and I'll have to check on the moon phases for Nov not that I have any control over that!

Hi Marty, I've read your great review before and hope that you can answer this questions which I can't get a straight answer from anyone else- do they sell hot, ready to drink coffee in the tiny little store at Concordia?? I really love my one cup per AM and hate the idea of bringing down all the stuff to make just that one little cup. I know Maho does but no one I've emailed or talked to at MahoBay in general seems to know (the 800 number). Dumb, but hey, I still would like to know. Thanks a bunch

I have never walked into the little store in the morning, but I didn't see anything like a coffee pot sitting out. My guess would be "No".
