Hi, We are planning a week on St. John at Cinnamon Bay Campground starting 4/23/11. We went once before in Feb. last year and the weather was great with no mosquitoes. It seems like it is wet now and the long-term forecast looks like more rain. I'm stressing a bit about rain and bugs for the week starting next Saturday April 23rd. Does anyone have any insight or advice. I'm just a worrier...vacations are expensive and hard to come by. Thanks so much for any advice.

Over 3" of rain fell on Water Island on Thursday with more on Friday, not sure about St John. Count nine days from Thursday and the mosquitoes will be out in full force for their two week life cycle. As long as there are continuing rain showers, which can be expected into May, the cycle will keep repeating. Make sure sleeping areas have screens on all openings, and try not to be outside the hour before sunset when the mosquitoes are most aggressive.

Hey thanks so much for taking the time to respond! I appreciate the info and will prepare for mosquitoes. Going to buy mosquito netting for over the cots and some spray with DEET. The tents at Cinnamon Bay Campground are not exactly insect proof to say the least. As far as the weather, I guess I'll just say a prayer to the sunshine gods and hope for the best like everyone else. It's beautiful there no matter what! Thanks again for your time and the info. 🙂
