Hi,
I'm visiting St. Croix during late January and was curious if there is anyway to get from St. Croix to St. John.

Thanks,
Steve.

Hi, to get to St. John (STJ) from St. Croix (STX), you must go through St. Thomas (STT). You can either fly from STX to STT via American Airlines or Cape Air (about $150 - $250pp) and then catch the ferry (about $10pp) to STJ or catch a ferry from STX to STT (about $100 - $150pp) then on to STJ on the same ferry. The plane ride is about 20 minutes from STX to STT and the ferry ride from STT to STJ is about 15 minutes. The ferry from STX to STT is about 1 1/2 hrs.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

I think the seaplane is the easiest way to get over. Catch the seaplane (Seaborne Airlines) out of Christiansted harbor and it flies you straight to Charlotte Amalie harbor in St Thomas where the ferry to St John leaves from. You cut out all the airport lines, security, taxis etc... As far as I know the seaplane costs the same if not less as AA or Cape Air and has really flexible scheduling.

Steve, Go to the top of this page and click on St Croix, then scroll down the left side and click on transportation. At the bottom of the transportation page are links to the ferry and air schedules, plug-in a date on the air and check the rates.

You can get to STJ from STX but it's not worth it unless you plan to do an overnight stay in STJ or STT. If you leave from STX early in the morning, I can't see you getting to STJ much earlier than 11:00/noon, depending on how slick you are at making all of the connections. I would probably leave STX later in the day and try to get to STJ late in the afternoon. Spend a night in STJ and then leave there late enough the next day to allow you to catch the last seaplane back to STX. There will not be enough time to enjoy STJ if you try to squeeze it into one day. Either way it is not a cheap deal. Good Luck.

The Seaplane is THE answer. I live on StX. You didn't say where you're staying here. Seaplane takes off from downtown Christiansted. Very easy.

AA doesn't fly directly to STT, so that option is out. You can get some really low fares on the Seaplane if you fly at certain times. Lot less than their usual $180 or so. The ferry is $90 RT.
Are you just planning a day trip? The earliest seaplane arrives in STT around 6:30-7 AM. The first ferry from Charlotte Amalie leaves at 9AM. The last one from Cruz Bay leaves at 3:45PM and the last seaplane before sunset. It varies the time of the year.

Thanks for all the responses!

One last question, would it be feasible (cost wise) to get a private charter for the day from St. Croix to St. John?
