The only time we have been to St. John is in June. I don't think I ever saw a wave. Is it usually that calm year around? (short of a storm of course). We will probably be there the end of April and I was wondering if I can expect the same calm water.

Also I have read that water temperature is around 78 in winter and 83 in summer. What about April? Anybody know?

Thanks

Water temp that time of year is about 80 -81 degrees. The best surfing is on the north shore of St. Thomas. Try the west end of Hull Bay, there is usually some surfing going on year around there. St. John is pretty protected from Atlantic swells.

Have fun!

Actually I was hoping that the water would be calm. I was in Hawaii last year and it was difficult to find good places to snorkel because of the waves. I loved it when we were in St. John in June and it was so calm. Can we expect the same the end of April?
