We are looking into sharing a water taxi from Red Hook to JVD on Feb. 11th after 3 pm. We are supposed to arrive STT at around 2:40 and worried abt making both ferries thru St. John's and West End. Dolphin says boat will be $300 plus $50 fuel surcharge, which comes to $75 pp.at four passengers. Don't know how many they can take. I think the $25 customs fee is extra. Not sure. But is anyone else interested in sharing at about 4:30?
$350 divided by four is $87.50 and I'm pretty sure the fare doesn't include the BVI tax.
It doesn't include the tax. They quoted that separate to me last week.
That's actually a really good price! I always assumed taking a private water taxi would cost much more. Live and learn. It's worth the extra $$ simply to avoid the hassles. Did you ask if they could pick you up closer to the airport?
It seems that since they have no access to dockage near the airport, Red Hook is it. They offer a taxi service from the airport to RH for an additional $15 per person (which is the same price as the regular taxi fare). The round trip ferry fare from RH to JVD is $70 (which includes the BVI entry fee but not the $5 departure tax) so the water taxi is obviously way more expensive but definitely an alternative when the ferry schedule doesn't fit one's itinerary.
