Anyone have a suggestion on getting around to other Islands without being tied to the schedule of a dive trip. I would like to be able to stay as long as I want if I find a good place. Are there water taxies from (for example) Norman Island to St Thomas that runs day and night?
Could we hire a quide with a boat for a day/evening to get us to Norman Island, Foxies, Bomba Shack, Willie T and get us back to St Thomas, when we are ready?
Mark: if you want to be in the BVI after dark, would recommend you try a term charter. In this post 9/11 world, you must go through customs returning from the BVI and they close at 5 or so. You might want to do some night dives with Chris Sawyer (sawyerdive.vi) alternatively.
Hello Mark,
If you want to go with the flow in terms of your dive trip you might try a smaller dive operator - something like http://www.6paqscuba.com.
You can find the inter-island ferry schedules to/from the USVI on this site, scroll to the top and click on Ferry Schedules. Nothing runs all day/night. Most stop running by afternoon, with the exception of the St. Thomas-St. John ferry that runs later but still not all night.
You could rent a boat with captain to take you to the various locations you are interested in during the day... but not into the night. The term charter suggestion would be your option... basically an overnight charter. You can find a couple at https://www.vinow.com/usvi/yacht.php.
