Hello all,
Is there the possibility of renting bicycles on Water Island?
Moreover, is Water Island the place to go when you want to avoid the big cruise ship crowds? We will be there next week. On Wednesday there are THREE ships coming in and we want to find the most secluded place to spend that day.
Thanks!
I would think Water Island is a secluded spot at any time during a cruise stop or a vacation.
Three ships is nothing compared 5 to 7 ships in one day including one of the largest cruise ships in the world by Royal Caribbean.
I dont know about renting bicycles on Water Island, I'm sure someone else does.
Enjoy your day in the USVI.
You'll find information on the WI cycling tours here:

There are several sailing charters which cater to the cruise ship visitors and stop at Honeymoon Beach on WI for an hour or so but the combo of the cycling tour and the beach should make for a very enjoyable day. Have fun!
Thanks! We will be staying for an entire week! I guess 3 ships isn't that many, it is just the most in one day during our visit. 🙂
The Water Island bike tours are sold on some ships, so Water Island's Honeymoon Beach will be more crowded than usual, especially if there's a ship at Crown Bay.
Where you're staying will determine if you'll even notice the cruisers. Few go to Frenchman's Reef, Bolongo, Point Pleasant or Secret Harbor.
Not for sure but I think the bike tour on Water Island only happens when there ARE cruise ships in port as their principal business is via cruise ship line onshore excursion. Not sure which line they have a contract with. On Wednesday, May 8th there are indeed 3 ships at Havensite.

If they have "takers", you might see Virgin Breeze, Bones, and Kon Tiki passengers at Honeymoon Beach. The passengers usually stay for an hour or less and then they get back on the boat and head back to the ship. There is guy on Water Island that has posted at the bulletin board renting golf carts - I don't have his phone number but maybe RockyDock might have. So, if you wanted to explore Water Island for the day, this may be another option. Come to Honeymoon Beach early/mid-morning and you may find you'll have Honeymoon Beach mostly to yourself. Set up under one of the palapas and relax. Joe's Beach Bar and Heidi Honeymoon Grill offer food and drinks or you can bring your own.
Enjoy your day!
