has anyone been to water island? If so what did you think of it. Has anyone heard anything about the eco sensitive canvas cabin camping resort on water island?

Water Island is very quiet, very laid back. Go there if you want peace and quiet and no night life. I laughed when you described the canvas cabin camping "resort" as "eco-sensitive". It is nothing like a resort; it is cabins stuck on a hillside a good stiff walk from the ferry dock. It may sound eco-sensitive but in fact all it did was tear up a hillside to be built, create a situation where people will be walking on narrow roads long distances to get to the ferry dock or Honeymoon Beach, and sleep in over-priced accomodations. Their website is very "creative." I have not stayed there but I have been by it. It was built over the objections of just about all the people who live on Water Isand.

Susanb, Iken is correct in that Water Island is a quiet, laid-back island. There are many villas and cottages offered for vacation rental (see Water Island Accomodations). Its a beautiful island with hiking, biking, Heidi's Honeymoon Bar and Grill, Joe's Beach Bar, Pirate's Ridge, "Drive-in Movie Night" on Monday's on Honeymoon Beach, Fort Segarro, Botanical Garden. The residents are all very friendly and very safe island. If you want dancing, dining out every night, then STT is where you would be most happy. If you are interested in quiet, relaxing, with dinner and/or lunch at Heidi's and Pirate's Ridge, then Water Island is for you. The beaches are nice especially Honeymoon Beach. Weekdays you may have the beach practically all to yourselves. The weekends are lively on Honeymoon Beach. There's also Sprat Bay. You're only an 8 minute ferry ride from STT so you can enjoy all the amenities that STT and STJ have to offer as well. Do a search on Water Island on this Board and you'll find other posts with more information/comments. I have a home on Water Island (Flamingo Point Estate) and absolutely love the island and the residents. Peaceful, friendly and fun and still close enough to enjoy STT or STJ.
