For those of who have shopped for flights to St. Thomas, can you tell me what the trends generally are for prices? We are a little over 2 months out from our trip to St. Thomas (departing May 2) and I am trying to decide whether to hold out a little longer to see if prices fall or buy them now for fear they will go up. Any thoughts? TIA!

Depends on where you're coming from. Spirit is currently selling FtLauderdale-STT for $77 for some dates. kayak.com is a nice fare site, and shows you a chart of price trends as well. I've found kayak to be quite comprehensive as to what exists at all, unlike one of the other fare sites.

If you're only two months out, I think I'd go ahead and pull the trigger.

I always keep an eye on the price of my tickets after I've purchased them, and they do go up most of the time one or two months in advance. I usually buy tickets about 4-5 months in advance, and not once have I seen the prices go down after I've made my purchase. That is the experience that I've had anyway.

Good luck 🙂

I would avoid spirit as we just got back from st thomas and they batted zero for on time. We ended up missing our first day on island as we were stuck in fort lauderdale overnight as they only offer one flight a day to st thomas.

I don't think there's a trend on when things drop or go up. I've seen it every which way. I've often seen fares dramatically drop 2 weeks before my departure. The only consistency I've seen is that they rise 1 wk prior.

We could probably help more if we knew what fare you are considering and from which airport.

I am looking for flights from Ohio (Columbus or Cincinnati, if possible) for the beginning of May (May 2 - May 6). Right now they are around $600...

I have never seen prices out of Houston this low. I booked for March 11 the week before last and jumped on 389. Now I see it for 299. with one added stop in San Juan. I booked a couple of months ago for July with FFmiles and now see the same 1 stop flight is 302. If I had known it was going that low I would not have used my FFmiles at all. I often wonder who decides what the prices are going to be and why they can be so radically different from one day to the next.

We're flying from Detroit on USAir through Charlotte booked about 2 months ago at about $400 pp. They had some flights as low as $199 each way last week; but the times were not ideal. Our flights have gone up to about $1100 pp. Sure glad I bought a couple of months ago.
