The electric rates here in the VI are five times higher than the average rates in the Mainland. We are talking about 38-42 cents per kilowatt/hour. People should be able to band together and do something about these ridiculous electric rates.
You could band together and get some group rates on things like Candles, lamp oil and ice, BBQ grills, propane, etc.
Or a giant generator well shielded for noise and an EPA permit for diesel storage - run lines to all your homes and see how much that could save.
As a US Territory, we are under the Department of the Interior. We need to petition our Federal government to enforce Federal Laws that are not being enforced here.
