Serendipity is something!
I was chatting with a colleague at work 2 days ago about the islands....and she seemed to know more than the average person. I asked her if she had ever been - and she told me that she owns a house on Fish Bay, STJ - and is planning to sell. In her interest, I am not going to get too specific....but will say that I WISH i had more $$ and was ready to buy. I've now seen pics of the house and the view. Good grief - is this a one of a kind situation and a one of a kind proprty.
I told her that I would be glad to collect names of people who she can alert when she and her hubby are done with a couple of cosmetic touches - which they plan to complete very soon. I'd like to see a forum friend get this one (and invite me down as my repayment for this find). There's nothng in this for me. She's a really nice lady with whom I have worked for a couple of years. She said that the home seemed like a great idea when they were younger, but now that they are older, they've settled into a nice life at home in the states and STJ just feels far. I don't think they plan to involve an agent on their end - just want to sell to someone with a dream like they had.
If you want to be on the list I am going to hand over, let me know via PM.
Here is what she wrote to me (I have removed the identifying into)....
"The lot is .64 acre (2/3) acre with the house in the front of the property. There is room at the back of the lot for a 2nd house to be built. The back property line is contigious with the National Park so it can never be developed. The house is 1/2 concrete and 1/2 wood. It has 3 decks on 3 levels. The main floor has 2 bedrooms, a great room with kitchen with 1 bath. The seond bedroom has a 10 by 10 space which is scheduled to become a bathroom. The upper floor is currently rented as a 2 bedroom apt. with kitchen, bathroom and decks. It has a seperate outside entrance. The road up to the house is concrete as is the drive way. The lower floor contains the pump room, 15,000 gal. concrete cistern and a large storage room with deck."
more homes on the market here then ever before...fundamentally, they make no sense...real estate market is dead, and no, that doesn't make it a buying opportunity. i love st john, but wont buy here.
We have been vacationing in the USVIs and BVIs for over a decade now and are interested in buying property there. It is my understanding that you have a house on St. John that you want to sell. If so, please contact send me photos and particulars via e-mail so we can discuss. We plan to be down there in May 2007 and would like to have a look. Thank, Frank
