*Hi there!
My family (5 year old, 6 year old and two adults) are going to be in St. Thomas on Feb. 14, coming from Carnival Cruise Lines. Is it possible to walk from the ship to a good beach? What beach(es) do you suggest for a nice family day? We are all pretty good swimmers.
Thanks!!!

The simple answer is, NO. Having had two sons who were young a long time ago, my advice is spring for a cab and take the kids to Coki beach. Sure it will be crowded, but the fish are are trained to seek hand outs from the swimmers there. The kids will love it. The cab driver will be more than happy to pick you up any time you tell him for the return trip to the ship.

The closest beach is MorningStar, but you will need to take a cab.

I would nix Coki if it's a busy cruise ship day - opt for a closer beach, as Coki is at the opposite end of the island from the docks. Sapphire and Secret Harbour are also beaches where fish are fed, and are shallow enough for the wee ones. As far as I know, both sell fish food.

Morningstar isn't a great snorkel beach. The next beach to the east is Limetree -also not great. Past that, there is Bolongo...then not much until you get to the East end - Secret harbour, Elysian, Vessup, Sapphire, etc.

Which ever beach you decide upon, make SURE to take a change of dry clothes - even if you sit on a towel, most taxi drivers won't take you on if you are wet.

Definitely don't walk. We were there in December and they are doing lots of construction as well. Not a very scenic walk.
