Once off the ferry on St. John are the new Grande something condos within walking distance so you wouldn't have to rent a car first thing? Have people been able to lug there luggage to these condos to check in? From there (condos) is there a grocery store within walking distance? I suspect the Market place would be a no? Thanks in advance...

lm: The reason that developers get away with illegal monstrosities is that people rent them. I think Grande Bay is in league with PWC and dolphin prisons; that is to say, all are full of controversy . I would suggest that you Google the Grande Bay development to see just how the people on St John feel about it and then perhaps you will rent somewhere else! 😉

uum ok East Ender, I will check it out. I was asking because I was curious and thought that if I came by myself and didn't want to rent a vehicle where would the closest place to stay and be able to walk to and from Cruz Bay and a store. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I guess this development is a real sore subject. Thanks Pia for the response...I will keep looking if there is othere rentals within walking distance to and from town/ferry dock....

We just returned from Gallows and we walked by Grande every day. There is still lots of construction going on there. If you don't mind the noise and dust it might be okay but for a lot of people it would be a real turn off.
