Any further information?
I live in Washington State and was fortunate to see Mt. St. Helens erupt. For about a week after the eruption, the sun was obscured a bit. After that, the sunsets and sunrises were a little more colorful and vibrant than usual, but you really couldn't notice any other difference.
Oh wait, I forgot that every morning when you woke up, you'd have to wash the car because of the volcanic dust that settled on the car. But I would think that you should be perfectly fine a week or so after the eruption.

Hey John,
I remember the Mount St. Helens eruption as well although living in St. Louis. I can recall the sunsets being very unique for a week or so....its amazing how long reaching the effects of those are....
