Hello -

My husband and I are planning our second trip to St. John for next February and we are looking for a villa. We rented Villa Caribe last year and liked it, but want to try something different. There will be two of us and we would like to be within walking distance of Cruz Bay (who can drive after all those rum punches??!). We would like a pool and/or hot tub and if possible, a view! Any opinions are appreciated! Thank you -

Tracy

Try MahoganyTreeVilla.com They have 1 bedroom villas. We are going there in Oct. for 10 days- they seem very nice & accommodating. The rates are very reasonable and a short walk to Cruz Bay. They have a pool and 120 steps to the beach at Frank's Bay. Hope this helps. Will post after our visit too.

My fiance and I stayed at Mahogany Tree Villa in April of this year and we were very happy.
MTV is a large house that is divided into 4 aparments,(in other words they are not separate houses or villas) one is occupied by the owners and the other three are very comfortable one bedroom units. We stayed in Caribsea, it had living room, fully equipped kitchen, and a large deck on the first floor and a bedroom, bath and another smaller deck on the second floor of the unit. There is a small pool, an honor bar and the Hills (the owners) are lovely people.
The place is immaculate, the pricing was very reasonable, and the views of Frank Bay and Turner Bay are terrific. It's also within walking distance to Cruz Bay which is convenient.

Mary Beth- Thanks for the info on MTV . Is there anything that you didn't take that you thought would have been nice to have with you? We have only 4 short weeks until our trip and I have just started organizing some things to take. I have a box to drop things in that we will be taking and not using until then. Thanks for your in put. Have a great day,Jeanne

Jeanne,
I've been thinking about your question and it's almost more of a case of what did we bring that we didn't need.... the units are really that well equipped.
Don't bother bringing a cooler. There'll be one in your aparment. The same with beach towels, there will be one for each of you and in general they'll dry overnight on the deck railing. One night it rained and we had wet towels. Lindsey graciosly exchanged them for dry in the morning. They have beach chairs you can borrow.
If you're planning on walking to town, bring good walking shoes or sneakers. It's not far but it's steep, you'll be more comfortable. If you're going to go snorkeling at Frank Bay, bring water shoes, it's a rocky beach and there are sea urchins but the snorkeling over on the left is excellent!
Oh I just thought, bring a baseball cap or something of the sort that you can hang up in the ceiling of the gazebo that serves as the honor bar.
Thinking about all this makes me want to head back right now.
If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.
Hope you have as much fun as Terry and I did. Tell Martha and Gerry we said hello. If they don't remember tell them Terry is the one who broke the hammock swing in Caribsea!!!
