Hello all.

Well, we just got back, Saturday night/Sunday morning, from STJ. I am ready to go back, only 165 days left 🙂

I have a question. We have stayed in several villas rented by Caribbean Villas and Catered To. We are looking for other companies besides Caribbean Villas to rent with in December. We are from Texas, and pretty use to A/C, so a villa with A/C in the bedrooms is a must...other than that, we are pretty open. If anyone knows of a villa they would recommend, it would be appreciated.

Well I've only been to one so far, and that was Beyond the Sea from Destination St. John. The air in the bedroom was very good and kept the room absolutely chill at night. The view was fantastic and the layout of the house was very nice. But I'm sure there are nicer villas out there.

I am definately going to reccommend Destination St. John as an excellent rental agency. Very friendly, professional, and service couldn't be beat. You won't be disappointed from any villa you rent from them!

Hello,

If you click on the St. John link at the top of this page, in the blue bar, and then choose accommodations from the menu you will find several villas and villa agencies. You can explore a few options from there.

We leave August 7th for our first trip to St. John. We've rented Temptress Villa also through Destination St. John. Initially reserved Spyglass but had second thoughts about no A/C in August so we switched to Temptress. Several months ago someone posted a glowing review of it. A search for Temptress shoudl bring it up. I'll post a report after our trip as well.

Thanks for the recommendations of villas.

I have looked at all the rental sites a million times and am really looking for personal recommendations, so thanks so much for the 2 that I have alrady gotten.

Can't wait to hear about Temptress and your trip...A/C in August is a great idea. It was pretty hot last week. Some of my local friends said that May and June have just been really hot (heat index/humidity), so A/C is a good idea if you are use to having it!!!

Have fun 🙂

I've rented with and without a/c in December. Down in the southshore area I'd say it was essential, but up on Bordeaux and Ajax I didn't need it. Ixora was fine with fans and open windows. I can't say it's highly recommended, but I'd give 3-4* and it's roomy. My favorite was also without air, Cinnamon Stones through Island Getaways, in Cathrineburg. The view was beyond great and fans were all I needed. It's at 600+ ft and it's breezy. Some nights I used a light blanket, cooler than the a/c bedrooms in Chocolate Hole. Sooo - the suggestion, don't dismiss houses without air if their located up high. You really don't need it (or at least I didn't) and they have killer views.

try www.mclaughlinanderson.com

In many cases, you'll find multiple rental agents managing the same properties. Also, in some cases, the rental rates are different - depending on which agent is renting it to you. It's best to check your property across multiple agents to ensure you are getting the lowest rate. Of course, once you find an agent you love (and maybe one that gives you a discount for repeat business), you can stick with them.

There is also a company that is launching a portal for discounted last minute villas - where they will all be pooled into one place for rental discounts if you are renting in the next 90 days. www.villavantage.com The site isn't up yet - but they have an introduction page up for now. They're also going to have a section for villa reviews, which is always helpful.

Funny thing about villas - they're usually much nicer than the pictures show. But, you have to rent through a reputable company. This is why it's good to get reviews of the villas.

Enjoy! Villas are the best way to go.

We are going in July and rented "glenmar" trough St. John Properties. I'll let you know when we get back. So far they have been very nice and extreamly helpful.
