Greetings. We're planning a trip to St. John the week of August 7th. We have reservations to stay in Spyglass Villa through Destinaton St. John. The villa does not have a/c which I realize is somewhat common. But given that some of the other available villas do have air conditioning and that we will be in STJ in August, should we consider changing to a villa with a/c or will we be comfortable without?

Thanks,
John

It really depends upon location of the villa relative to trade wind breezes and your comfort level with warm and humid weather. We are from Houston so warm and humid is no problem for us. If the villa is located on the west side of a hill, it is very likely you will not get a steady breeze. We rented a villa with A/C in the bedrooms and never used it since they had fans and the breeze at night cooled everythning down.
Call the agency and ask about the available breeze relative to your villa. Looking at the Spyglass site, it appears you face east and are high enough that breeze will be plentiful.

Thanks. We're in Houston too so I'm pretty sure even without A/C the temp will be a welcome change from August in Texas. I'll probably call the agency just to be sure though. Thanks again!

Breezes are not as prevalent on the west side so it will depend upon specific location. Casa Contant appears to be higher up the hill and has a lot of open windows so it should take advantage of any breeze avaialble.
Check with the agency. If they are listed with other agencies, check with them as well to make sure you get a better idea.

There is nothing wrong with a moonlight swim in the pool, drinking pain killers to cool you down if you get uncomfortable:)
