I an getting prepare to plan my visit to STT next year. Can anyone recommend a villa (not a condo) where smoking is allowed? We usually stay in Red Hook... Many thanks...
I know that almost all villa's on STJ are smoke free, but allow smoking outside. I am guessing that it is the same for STT.
missingstthomas, smoke outside and down wind. Be sure to be considerate about where you put your butts. Field dress ciggs and throw away in a receptacle (e.g., not on the ground, not in the beach sand and not in the water). And, always, always, always be aware that the environment can get pretty dry so be careful not to start any accidental fires.
Although I am somewhat embarrassed to admit it, but I am also a smoker. I wanted to agree with FL Barrier Islander about being aware of the environment. When I took my children to swim with the dolphins a few years ago in the Florida Keys I heard a very sad story, they mentioned that dolphins were starving to death in the ocean because of careless cigarrette butts. They swallow the butts but do not digest them so the dolphins feel full and thus don't eat. I suppose the same could be said for many of our other marine friends.
With that said, I enjoy being able to smoke in the islands, where I live we have a ban on all smoking in resturaunts and bars. When I was last on island a carton of ciggs only cost $15-$18 a carton.
