Hello All,

I'm hoping you can all help us out! We have been traveling to STJ the last week in January for the past 6 years. We've been very fortunate in that we've been able to rent the same villa every year. Well that's all changed for our 2012 trip, the villa isn't available and we are crushed, devastated to say the least.

So I'm wondering if anyone of you out there have a villa recommendation for us.

We like the Coral Bay side of the island, it doesn't have to be on the beach, we prefer a pool, we like seclusion and privacy. There is just my husband and I so it doesn't have to be huge. We always rent a jeep and are used to the rough roads (our previous villa was up on Calabash Boom). We are looking to find something for the last week in January, we'd like to keep the cost somewhere around $2500-$3000. for the week.

We could potentially move our arrival to STJ to the beginning of February, after a week on STJ we go to JVD for 3 weeks, but in a perfect world we'd like to be on STJ January 28 or 29 for a week.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jill

We loved Sago Cottage. But it doesn't have a pool, just a hot tub.

Ric,

Thanks for the recommendation unfortunately it's booked. Coincidentally the same person who owns Sago owns the one we normally rent and she's blocked all of her properties for her, her family and friends, hence the reason we can't get the one we like. Sago is actually just down the hill from where we stay.. Bummer, but thanks again for the recommendation

I rented from WIMCO, and they work with McLaughlin Anderson. They can probably help you out.

Thanks for the info. I've been searching VRBO, Caribbean Villas and Resorts, Carefree Getaways, Book it V.I. and all the other sites out there. I was hoping someone would have a "favorite" villa to share as word of mouth is definately the best resourse.

Keep the recommendations coming, we haven't found anything yet

Thanks

Jill

We've rented the Great Turtle and Ixora on recent vacations. Loved both of them but may be out of your price range - we had a large group to split the cost.

You might consider Soft Winds (Private Homes) at Cocoloba Point.
It is at the top of your range and not on the East End but but very private and away from the crowd despite only being 15 minutes from Cruz Bay. You're on top of the point so you have unobstructed views of South STJ to the east, STX out the kitchen and STT from the west deck/living room.
PM if you want more details.

If you are flexible and willing to try another island, Water Island is a wonderful place. Safe quiet and beautiful. We go down every December. We have some time avail in our houses in January. http://www.slowmocean.com

Thanks to everyone who chimmed in w/ recommendations and thoughts on villa rentals. We are very fortunate that our original villa (of which we've rented for 6 years) became available thru the kind heart of the owner. She gave up one of her weeks so we can return "home" in January. Again thanks for all the helpful feedback, will bank it for future use should we need it.
