Headed to St. John in Nov--5th trip in past 5 years--wife and I keep talking about trying someplace new next year--but the island keeps pulling us back. Looking at a villa thru Caribbeanvillas called La Encatada. Any advice/reviews appreciated.

We are on the same boat as you! You may get more input on specific villas here:

we used Windspree villas, staying in Coral Bay and then driving to Cruz Bay for some activities. Windspree was clean, people easy to work with and very accomodating. They can arrainge many activities, etc. www.windspree.com

We recently stayed in a Caribbean Villa property at Reef Bay (Second Wind) and drove past Chocolate Hole to enter Cruz. Don't know anything about the property but the company was great and very attentive. We had scheduled to meet them in the afternoon but we arrived in the morning and they collected us just the same without a problem.

we just returned from our two stay on St.John, this was our fifth trip to St.John and each time we have a caribbeanvilla property. This last villa we stayed at was called The Palm Villa which was located in the gift hill area, whick worked out great. The villa was kinda in the middle of the island, which made it great for traveling adound the island.I would recommend this villa to anyone who likes a litle privacy, and for anyone who likes to work on their all over tans and the garden showers were very cool as well.We setup our car rental through the caribbeanvilla offices as well, they meet you right at the red hook with your car and take you right to your villa. They make it so easy for you,and they also meet you right at the dock to pick up your rental car as well when its time to go.So take a few minutes and check out The Palm Villa at www.caribbeanvilla.com.The view was great we just loved it.We normally like to try a new villa each year, but we've already decided that we are going back to Palm Villa next year

We have been going to St John for 12 years for the same reason you mentioned...it keeps luring us back. For the past 9 years and again next year we have and will stay at Sea Cay Villa on Rendezvous Bay....it is suspended somewhere between sea and sky, with wonderful snorkeling just down the zig zaggy road below. It just changed managment companies...I think to Seaview vacation homes, but you can also rent through Carefree Getaways and they are wonderful people...ask for Katie if you go that route.

We always liked Starlit Escape Villa - it's huge, immaculate and had everything we ever needed. (www.starlitescape.com) PS - in Coral Bay.
