Do you mean villa Belvedere on St. John? If yes, I stayed there last year and can share information and pictures.

The famed Estate Belvedere is on St Croix.

It was featured on TV last year on one of those luxury vacation homes shows - probably "Around the World in 80 Homes". I recall hearing lots of good press about it. I have not stayed there. It is built inside of a mill ruin.

Here is the review I wrote for the usvi-on-line forum.

Villa Belvedere

Villa Belvedere is managed by Vacation Vistas. This villa is located on Maria Bluff, and has terrific ocean views. It is just a few minutes drive in to Cruz Bay. The villa consists of two pods connected by a covered walkway. One pod contains two bedrooms of equal size with ocean views (one king bed, one with twins that can be pushed together). Both bedrooms have full bathrooms with connecting outdoor showers. Across the hall from these bedrooms are a laundry room and storage space

The main floor of the second pod contains an adequately equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, tv room, all with ocean views, and a half bath. The floor plan is open. One bedroom with queen bed and full indoor bath is located upstairs from the living space. This bedroom’s windows look down on to the living room (no ocean view). There are decks with various seating arrangements with ocean views off the living room, tv room, and the two bedrooms in the separate pod. The pool and hot tub (both with ocean views) are located below the main living level, and there are various chaise lounges for seating on the pool deck. Iguanas visit the pool area, and an outdoor cat waits on the covered walkway at night.

Belvedere is air conditioned in all areas, and has screens on all windows and doors. The villa is well maintained—we found it to be very clean and free of “critters.” The house is located in a dense neighborhood, but lush plantings make it impossible to see neighbors. The villa is well lit inside and out. The area is very quiet.

The villa is equipped with books, movies, board games, beach gear (including chairs), and cds. A welcome basket was provided on arrival, and there are various spices, oils, etc. in the kitchen stock. I would recommend Villa Belvedere, and we hope to rent it again on a future trip.

Here are some pictures:

I've got some interior shots too, but will have to wait til I am back at my house the upload them to flickr.

Villa Belvedere is one of my favorite locations on STJ. Close enough to hear the waves, high enough and windy enough to not be buggy, good views of STX to STT, nobody in front of you, good cruise ship watching, close enough but far enough away from town, spectacular sunsets over water or miles away islands. BUT dense is right. The villa takes up side to side nearly all the lot, as do the adjacent villas. The outside bedrooms are literally feet from the neighbors. Ordinary conversations from neighbors are as if in the same room-airconditioning may be a necessity for privacy. Whoever gets the inside bedroom will feel gypped(sp?), hopefully you have two couples.

That said-to my mind a wonderful villa with some potential downside depending on your preferences. Also Maria Bluff is running out of lots-sooner or later the building will slow down.

The Vacation Vistas website photos are accurate, professional, and dramatic. Check out the aerial photos.

The house does sit below the street level if that bothers you, but there are only about 10 villas that would use the road past this villa. Locals live along this ridge-I imagine loud music would not be tolerated.
