Gee, after living here for about 10 years, someone finally asked me a question that I had no answer for! Wow! Call Ripley! Haha! Anyway, a friend is coming down and he has asked my opinion of this tour: http://www.viecotours.com/kayak-and-snorkel-tour.html
I'd never been, so I thought I would post it here for someone to give me the scoop...
Thanks for all your help!
Marty, I've never been, but many have reviewed it on cruisecritic.com, and it gets very good reviews.
However, I think it may be pretty expensive. I checked last year, and LOCAL price was 2 for 1 for like $95 total. Arawak Expeditions in St John offers kayak trips starting at $50 for half-day, and that's the posted price on their website. So, I'd have them compare the two before making a final decision.
price is 65.00 for kayak and snorkel trip and 75 for kayak hike and snorkel. i have never been but have neve heard anyone say anything bad about it! they do have a website and i assume it is viecotours.com
I haven't done the tour lately, but it is a great way to experience St Thomas. The mangrove is the nursery for all the fishies and creatures you see snorkeling and diving! Now, I hope the owners are reading, because I really do not like the visual pollution their signs create along the road. It just doesn't go along with the the idea of an ecologically-oriented attraction and it is part of the St James Marine Sanctuary.
Because I have heard great reviews from many of my guests, this is something that I would like to do!
Hey there East Ender. Is it the size of their sign that offends U? Or is it that they have a sign?
Sloop
"Is it the size of their sign that offends U? Or is it that they have a sign? "
They don't have "a" sign; they have loads of signs! Their road frontage is lined with their advertising banners, like the advertising flags you see hanging from the streetlights in the parking lots of stateside malls during the Christmas shopping season. Their presentation of their business is Disneyesque rather than ecologyesque.
dnt is absolutely correct...
