Hans and his brother Per, and their families have tons of great old photos of STT, Red Hook, Sapphire, the harbor, town and many other places. Brings back fond memories of the way things used to be and quite frankly, I liked much better.
So sad I lost my copy of Mrs. Anduze's Native Recipes Cookbook! Good ting in deh, meeson.

The Tutu mall does sit on my families old cow pasture.

Mahogany Run and the Golf Course were cow pastures as well for STT Dairies, there was not a single home on Peterborg nor Trapaco Pt. and you were considered in the "country" once you started up Raphune Hill. Most of the areas were farm or pasture lands.

There were no shopping malls out in Tutu nor any housing developments nor buisnesses spanning the distance between Raphune Hill and Red Hook or darned few, Red Hook was small and sleepy place and mainly for beaches, fishing and going to STJ where you waited for the
25 cent ferry at Mama Dohm's small store by dock which had comfy chairs, snacks and sodas. Sapphire had no condos anywhere but some small rental cottages on the beach where the beach resort now is, the docks/marina there were a salt pond but there was a great beach bar and restaurant.

Most stores were in town lining the main street and back street, most store owners lived with families above their stores, everything closed early on Thursdays and town was hopping on Sat. nights with people walking, going to the movies, out to dinner, shops stayed opened late with inquiring minds checking out who was escorting whom around from the upper terraces and balconies. Everyone dressed for Church on sundays and discussed the goings on of Sat. night. There was little to no crime, no-one locked doors and those who had vehicles left keys in them. People felt safe anywhere they went.

Dem days - long gone! Grateful the photos are there to remind those of us that have been here forever (or just feels that way!) and bring those memories back to us!
