Do Verizon cellphones work in Cruz Bay on St. John? Is there a hefty roaming charge?
You will (You May) get a signal but it will be in roam.
ATT and Sprint is a local call
Verizon services end at Puerto Rico
I have verizon and just recently I was down for three weeks and the roaming charges were $500. so use your time wisely
The service overall was good, but for some reason the verizon air cards do not work on St.John if you plan on using one.
So would a Sprint cell, blackberry and card built into laptop work, without roaming charges? I'm not technologically savvy, but I was wondering if I can keep in touch w/office and do emails while on vacation. Thanks for any advice.
When we first got Sprint we went to an actual Sprint Store and told them we would be in the USVI. They made a note on our account indicating that we were not subject to any charges beyond our normal bill and gave us a hard copy (we got burned by Verizon several years ago). We did not look into the the laptop card as we usully use free WiFi when we're there. But our Sprint internet for our phone does work.
Thanks ... I'll go to the local store before we leave.
Hello, I was down last year. I have verizon. My unlimitd tex plan was the same as home. So, we used text messages instead of phone calls. No roaming, etc. I did get pretty good service.
You need to set up an international plan for $5.00 a month, with Verizon. Then your calls are $2.00 a minute. I decided to purchase minutes for an old trac fone.
