We'll be on STJ through the 15th of February and are planning to have a "nice" dinner out on Valentine's Day. We normally stay on Cruz Bay side of the island, and I'm pretty familiar with the options over there. We've never stayed on Coral Bay side. What restaurants might suit a party of 3 couples looking for a nice, quiet, Valentine's night dinner?

Thanks!

My favorite in Coral Bay is Shipwreck Landing with excellent fresh fish and my favorite appetizer on island - coconut shrimp. Sweet Plantains is very good and has a more romantic ambience, but the food is more challenging with an interesting spice mix that is more Indian/South Asian than West Indian. Aqua Bistro is another sit down option that my daughters enjoy.

Cheers, RickG

Don't forget Miss Lucy's! They have outdoor tables right by the water with beautiful seagrape trees strung with white lights. The food is fantastic, also!

Seagrape 🙂

2 years ago I had a wonderful Valentines dinner at Sweet Plantains. The food was absolutely fabulous and the waiter was wonderful. It was a bit crowded, but so is just about every place on that evening.

The ambiance was nice as well. I would say to dress nice, but casual. It is in doors, but there is a nice breeze that comes through the open windows and doors I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I will be going back in May and I plan to eat there again.

Make sure to make a reservation too.

Enjoy!

Sweet Plantains looks awesome to me, but......

My wife is resistant to trying new things - especially anything resembling a spice. Our traveling companions are small-town, basic folks who's spice rack is limited to salt and pepper. I'm afraid they wouldn't appreciate the meal given the $100 tab per couple.

Right now, I'm thinking either Shipwreck Landing, or sucking-it-up and making the drive back to Cruz Bay for Morgan's Mango. We love Zozo's, but they've got a "special dinner" at $75 per person on Valentine's Day - See my comment above - now try $200 per couple on for size!

Thanks for the responses!

My vote was going to be Sweet Plantains, hands down.

Shipwreck Landing has good food, but it doesn't seem very romantic to me.

Eating outside at Miss Lucy's is probably more Valentine's Day-ish than Shipwreck Landing and everyone in your group would probably be happy with the food there (although I, personally didn't think it lived up to the hype...everyone is different).

We've never been to Aqua Bistro, just walked by it many times going to Lily's Market - it looks nice. It seems like a good place for V-Day dinner.

Or, if your villa has a great view, you could cook at home or pick up some food and eat on your balcony!

I would second Aqua Bistro. I have eaten there many times for lunch and dinner and was never disappointed. It is casual, but with a "Bistro" type of feel. And eating outside is wonderful. Shipwreck landing seems to have more of a "bar" feel to me. But ya know what? Morgan's Mango might just be the ticket for all of you. You really can't go wrong anywhere.

Our anniversary is Valentine's Day, we got married in STJ. We go back every year and have tried them all. Definately a matter of opinion but if your group is hesitant to try spicy stuff then Sweet Plantains is definately not for you. Miss Lucy's is fabulous and you could request an outside table by the ocean under the lighted trees (very quiet and quite nice), the food is amazing and prices are reasonable (being that you are on the island)

Regardless of where you go make sure you make RESERVATIONS......if you don't it's a crap shoot as to whether you get a table or not.

ENJOY

Aqua Bistro is a good option but why not consider Chateau Bordeaux for a romantic dinner with an amazing view over Coral Bay. Get your reservations NOW.
