looking for vacation rental within walking distance of cruz bay so won't have to rent a car all week! want a great view, 1 or 2 bedrooms, pool optional, a/c in bedrooms, internet would be nice. don't mind walking hills if the distance isn't too great. has anyone stayed at a place they can recommend?
jojo: If you don't rent a car, how are you going to get around the island to see all the things it has to offer?
If you rent the right place in Cruz Bay you don't really have to rent a car, you can use the safari taxi up to North Beaches and the bus goes
to Salt Pond beach (Coral Bay area) .We' ve been to STJ about 3 times in the past 7 years, having stayed at the Westin timeshare to Kiddle Bay area (basic small cottage) and the Serendip condominiums in Cruz Bay (they have 1 bedroom units) more recently which is in Cruz Bay & walking distance to the ferry.
It's little bit steep but less than a mile distance to the ferry dock area. Unit was very clean with beautiful views of Pillsbury Sound & sunsets from the huge covered deck, A/C in bedroom and living area, free wi-fi. Most importantly it was very affordable, the Manager Ted was a great help during our stay.

We are staying at Lavender Hill Suites which is in Cruz bay. It is highly recommended on Trip Advisor. I will post a review when we return in a month or so.
