*hi; i'LL BE AT THE FRENCHMAN'S REEF FOR A WEEK IN MID mAY. aNything especially imperative that I see or do during my stay? I'm a 55 year-old New Yorker. thank you
Just go limin'. There are lot of things you can do but let us know what your interests are. Main thing is to kick back, relax, enjoy the sun and the sand.
Age doesn't matter.
The one event that we did at Marriott "on property" that we really enjoyed was the "pina colada welcome reception". Ask the front desk which evening this is held during your stay. They pour non-alcohol Pina Coladas then add flavored Cruzan rum to your taste. It gives you some socialization with other guests as well the opportunity to try some flavored rum that you may not otherwise try. We really liked the Vanilla Rum and the Pinapple was also tasty.
There are other events scheduled each day on-site. Otherwise, I agree with Patrick - just stay relaxed and have fun!
You didn't specify the exact dates, but on May 20, Parsons Dance Company will be performing at Reichhold, which is a truly beautiful amphitheater at UVI (University of the Virgin Islands).
I'd go to hear jazz at The Beach Bar on St John on Sun from 4 - 7. Friendly crowd, so you'll feel very comfortable even if you're alone.
If you like playing Bridge, the Bridge Club meets M,Th at 7 p.m., W,F at 1. Call 340-775-6184. Getting there may be a problem, though, since it's not in town - you'll have to take a cab.
Paradise Point is lovely at sunset on Wed from 5 to 9.
Tavern on the Waterfront in town has jazz Fri 7 to 10:30. Same group might also be at Giggling Gecko in International Plaza (in town) Thur at 5:30.
And of course, don't forget beach and shopping! Royal Dane Mall in town has galleries and stores with locally made items. Other galleries also in town.
Have fun!
