I am coming to St Thomas and going on a Diving/Sailing Trip. I have 2 spaces that my friends had me pay for and backed out. I am looking for 2 people to come hang with us. It is an all inclusive trip once on the boat. It is called the Juliet. Let me know if you are interested . The cost is $1500pp.

I passed this information on to two of my son's but it is a little out of their price range. Good luck in finding some mates, I feel bad that your friends stuck you with paying up front for them only to cancel out.

Regardless I hope that you have a terriffic time!

Dive, I feel sorry for you, but it does teach you a lesson. Money up front!!!

I suggest you contact some dive shops around you and see if anyone is interested. Put it on Craigslist too, you never know.

Good luck!

I have passed on to three couples - two of which are diving couples
No takers - sorry

Have you explained the situation to the yacht company or owner.
Maybe they will cut you a little slack

Or how about having a raffle for Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer Society, or your favorite charity
Donate the trip and right a check to the charity of the total collect
You get a tax deduction and do something nice.

All with you, money up front! I have a feeling that this is a younger gentleman (I'm assuming, us older ones have already been through this) has learned his lesson in such a painful way.

dive4fun, it is still not out of the question for my sons if you do need to sell at the last minute. As you can see on this board, I am a property owner, ny heart is in the caribbean so I'm not trying to exploit anything. If you do come down to your final trip days my sons do have a certian budget that they could meet. Please PM me to see if we could help somewhat. At least this could help with some of your losses.

Just a polite way to move your post up to the top so folks will see it.

Dive: The Juliet has been at the waterfront the last two days. Did you all charter the whole boat, or did you just charter individual cabins? Can you return those cabins to the broker to fill, if the latter?

Having been on charter with very good friends, I have to say, chartering with someone you know not would be difficult. 😉 I do wish you luck!

We know some people down here including the owners of Aqua Action Dive Center. I'll talk to a few friends stateside and some people down here and try to help you out. Not sure what I'll come up with, but it's worth a try. Meantime, have you tried Ebay? Also, put in an ad on Travel Talk Online (TTOL) in the classifieds. Only $10 for a month. It's mainly BVI, but you never know. Lastly, contact PADI, NAUI and maybe email a few dive shops stateside. Probably too late to advertise with any of them, but it's worth the 10 minutes to try. Good luck, it sounds like you're a nice guy!

I would call a broker - of course there is a commission but 85% of something is better than nothing. PM me if you want some email addresses.

Also, contact the boat. With the yachts I manage we would reduce the price down to the two passenger rate and rebate the difference for you. While it may be a bit late to change your contract most charter yacht owners will consider this.
