Our daughter and her finance just announced that they want to have their wedding in the USVI March 2010. We need advice. They want something memorable with waves ect, but also all inclusive and affordable. I would like ideas on which resort is going to provide some if not all she wants.
I am originally from ST Thomas and am counting the days! Great kid to pick such a wonderful place to get married
I want to do some day tripping thru the BVI and will post questions on that at a later date.

I'm having a hard time thinking of resorts that also have waves. The north side of the island usually has larger waves, but I can't think of any north side resorts on STT that have great beaches. Magen's is a nice beach to get married at, but it is not part of a resort and is in a bay area without large waves. What about getting married at the resort and then doing a photo op afterwords at the beach? I know that there have been lots of brides posting on this forum, hopefully they will give you some great ideas.

Congratulations!

Molly

Congratulations! You must be very excited!
Getting married thru a resort will be more expensive than hiring your own wedding coordinator! This way you could also pic your own beach and for waves, I would suggest Smith Bay Beach (Lindquist). This beach mind you is usually, tho not always, windier, so bare in mind when thinking about a vail! Being that I AM a wedding coordinator, I am not allowed to give suggestions as to what wedding company to go with, but I know vinow has companies to choose from including the one I work for. Happy wedding planning! (tu)

Hello! Very exciting that your daughter would like to be married in the USVI! 🙂 My husband and I were married 3 years ago in STT, on Magens Bay. It was a beautiful wedding and was everything we had expected. We went through a wedding planner named Leslie with Perfect Weddings of St. Thomas. They have packages that pretty much include everything, and she did an absolutely amazing job. Took care of everything and was super helpful. So that's one idea that I can give you if your daughter would like to use a wedding planner. There are many on island, but I can only attest to Leslie with Perfect Weddings of St. Thomas since we used them.

As for waves...I'll give you a brief history of our stay during on our wedding on STT. We stayed at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef and Morningstar Resort. My husband and I stayed in the main hotel building, while our maid of honor and best man were given a room on the Morningstar Beach portion of the hotel. Morningstar Beach is the beach that belongs to the resort. It was a nice beach and had bigger waves. So much so that I didn't get in the water that time. It is not a calm bay like Magens. The water at Morningstar was definitely rougher. So if it's waves and a resort your daughter and her fiance want, then I can suggest that. The hotel has its own wedding coordinator, so you could probably get in touch with them if you would like more info.

Hope I have been of some help. Let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Well, Sherri might not be able to make a recommendation, but I don't think you could go wrong at all using her as a wedding coordinator. She works for http://weddingstheislandway.com/ Sherri has been extremely helpful to me in the planning of my August, 2010 wedding.

Well I am getting married in June of 2010 in St Criox and did all the planning myself. My fiance sister and nephew live down there. His Nephew's wife is a wedding coordinator for the The Buccaneer. She is wonderful. I have chosen Sugar Beach for my wedding ceremony as well as my photos. Then I am using Chef Daniel at the Island Inn for the catering and reception. My soon to be nephew is a videographer and photographer as well as a master diver. My soon to be sister in law is a minister and is performing the ceremony. I am working on a budget so this is what I have come up with and has turned out to be wonderful. If any questions my email is [email protected]. I love St. Criox for we were there in May of 2008 for his nephew's wedding and it was at the Tamarind and it was wonderful. Did not want to come home.
