Just saw in the Nov issue of Conde Nast (which I got free with my unused Delta miles -- I don't think I'd pay for such a "hoitie-toitie" mag) that St. John was voted the #1 Caribbean island by readers. Also the Ritz Carlton in STT was voted one of the top Caribbean resorts, I don't recall where exactly it was ranked.

Other islands in the top 10 were (although in BVI) were Peter Island and Virgin Gorda. Also top resorts named were Little Dix Bay and Biras Creek in Virgin Gorda.

FYI only.

Am I the only one who wishes they would stop writing about STJ? Am I being selfish? In the 15+ years I have been traveling there, it has gotten exponentially more crowded. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Yes, you are being selfish. So am I. All travel reporters should be banned from STJ unless they are known to prefer casinos, nightlife, shopping, cruise ships, golf, etc.
