I recently received an email from Marriott regarding our timeshare and it stated that delinquent property tax bills would be sent out for 06 & 07 in the next couple months. From what I understand the property taxes in the USVI have been frozen from 98 and just in the last year they have been reappraised and the bills are now going out. I have never received a property tax bill from the USVI for our timeshare (we have been owners for about 3 years), but knew at some point we would. The email does state that there is a grace period where all fees will be lifted as long as the bill is paid by a certain date. I really don't understand why the taxes would be late if they have never been mailed out, but whatever? I guess this reappraisal goes for all property owners in the USVI and not just timeshare owners. Can anyone shed some more light on the current property tax situation and maybe any fellow owners out there enlighten me a bit in terms of timeshare taxes?

Schnell, you may find it beneficial to click on the "Relocation Message Board" and post your question there. Also, you may want to do a search on the Reloc Board as well. There was a discussion about the tax bills within the last month or so.

Yes. Amnesty period exists for payment without any penalties to 01 September 2008. Beware though, there has been alot of complaints about being billed for taxes that are NOT owed. VI government officials said to disregard those bills and they will re-issue them, if applicable, after they look again.

Thanks for the responses...I have posted over in the relocation forum as advised. I did find that thread about the bills from about 3 weeks ago, but there was not much there. Thanks though.
