Ok I know it is kinda corny, but last night decorating the tree it was in the 20s with lingering snow on the ground when my wife put on a mix of Christmas CDs. When the Kenny Chesney version of "All I want for Christmas" played I could not get it out of head. So I copied his refain and added a verse. Let see how many frustrated caribbean soul songwriters we have. Cut & paste and add some lyrics. We will not be there for Christmas, but the first week of January cannot come fast enough

Ooooo, don't you think it's a pretty good plan?
All I want for Christmas is a real good tan.
We’ll hoist the sails set course to Maho Bay
let the sloop be our tropical sleigh
Walk on the shore listening to the blue water sound
just the two of us with no one around
Pop a bottle of chilled champagne, sit on beach
yeah mon this is paradise we have reached…
love it love it love it!
finally a chesney person...which album is it on
let me think of a verse too
Got be honest... Not a big Kenny fan
However my son is a REAL BIG Kenny fan!
He moved to STT back in May pretty much following the lyrics of Island Boy. So dad who hates country got the Be As You Are CD to see what Kenny was all about. Still not a big country fan, but when Kenny comes on I think of my island boy.
Kenny put out a Christmas album in 2004 - the song is track one. I added my verse to his refrain in hopes others would join in. Figured everyone could tell their favorite thing about the islands in lyrics
Don't tell my son - I starting to like Kenny
Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Taj Mahal, Santana please forgive me
I know our friends are enjoying the snow,
But when they are celebrating the day, they'll feel the icy wind blow.
I'll sure think of them as I look North over the sea,
And in their bundled coats and hats they'll think of me.
The tired kids, covered with only a sheet, rest in their beds,
While visions of coconuts, coral, hermit crabs, distant islands, and Santa dance in their heads.
TomB: Kenny is not really a Virgin Islander, but a country pop singer. If you want a Virgin Islands Christmas song, you need to get some of Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights CDs, especially the Guavaberry song. And in the Caribbean vein, King Obstinate's "How Will Santa Get Here?" The Caribbean child's question:
"The yard has no snow, the house has no chimney, so how can Santa really get to me?" and
"There is no reindeer in my country, he have to borrow me neighbor donkey- Ho, Ho, Ho, How will Santa get here?"
East Ender - totally agree about Kenny is not Islander. He is just like most of us on this board - wishing we were there or at least there more often. I guess he is luckier than most of us because he comes and goes as he pleases. We are stuck looking for cheap air fare.
At least I found reasonable airfare 3 times this year and leaving the first week in January.
To all of you that participate on this board from the VI who keep us tourist and island wanna bees up to date - have a great Christmas and Great Holiday - Most all thanks for answering all of our silly questions.
I am looking for the lyrics of "How will santa get here" by King Obdtinate
Will appreciate all assistance on this
Thanks
Helen Hart
TomB - how lucky are you that it was only 20 degrees with snow on the ground! It's been in the 60's here in WV and I HATE it this time of year! I want cold and snow until after New Year's and THEN it can get 60 degrees. My son did have a friend from school coming to visit and go skiiing next week, but its too warm!! Only 6 trails open at the nearest resort!
I bought my sister (who is in love with Kenny Chesney), the Christmas CD of his, and a bottle of Cruzan rum cream for Christmas. She will go nuts! the rum cream is not available at alot of liquor stores. I hope she doesn't already have the CD.
Helen, Eastender posted this on the Relocation board & I copied it in case he/she doesn't see your request here.

Wow! I am being cut and pasted!! I want to make sure that the proper credit for this CD is given: King Obstinate's "A Christmas Blessing" c. 1999 For information online at: www.theorchard.com (search artist: King Obstinate)
Ah, you DID come back! Good idea to name the source. Now you're famous as you have been quoted. 🙂
