Am coming to stx for a month in June. Tickets bought, deposit paid on lodging. Just got out of the hospital from emergency gallbladder surgery and ended up with an asthmatic condition. According to doc, had trouble (spasms) during surgery. Having been asthma free for 7 years (no meds/nothing) and not knowing how long this "sensativity" will last - what do I need to do/know/plan in preparing for my trip?
How have others with asthma been affected in this type of climate?
I plan on taking all appropriate stuff(mdi's, nebs).
Any help is welcome - I don't want my trip jepordized.
I haven't seen anyone here complaining of asthma. As a matter of fact, you are the first person I have seen bring it up in 7 years here. Anyone?
Thanks Marty. That's a relief. I am much better already and looking forward (even more) to my upcoming trip.
Thanks for all your input.
My wife has asthma induced by allergies. She loves STX - no allergies, no asthma at all.
Linda,
I have Cystic Fibrosis and have no trouble at all when we are in the islands. It does get hot in August when we usually go but there is always a nice breeze. In addition, you can't stay out of the water for long. I bring my pari trek and meds and do just fine.
Enjoy
