We are trying to choose an underwater camera for our next USVI/STJ trip in April. We have narrowed our choices thus far to "an underwater 35mm" due to the cost of the digital underwater choices. We have great results from our digital but it is not a model that would be easily operable in a waterproof housing.
It seems that the Sea Life SL545 is a good buy with the color correction flash and the ability to use 100 or 200 film.
Any suggestions of other cameras or reviews of the Sea Life film cameras?
Thanks for your comments
Jim
Pappa, check back to mid Nov to a thread about underwater cameras. We took a couple of disposable Kodak (I think) cameras and had crummy results but it did generate a fairly long thread about choices in underwater cameras. Good luck with this, next trip to STJ (#5), I'm getting a real, digital underwater camera because the snorkling/underwater life is so wicked cool! (we New Englanders talk like this)
karrieb,
i was wondering where to buy a underwater camara, do you buy a reg. digital then buy the housing unit for it? or do they sell underwater camaras? for under 200 ? and where to buy them?
anyone got any info on this? thanks, scooby
No sorry Scooby, I haven't researched this at all yet. I am impressed by my daughter's digital camera (Christmas gift) and have been hoping outloud that they sell them for use underwater. Maybe they don't. Sorry to mislead you! If you find one that works for underwater and above, please post it here 'cause I'll look into them too!
