Looks like the islands are in for Tropical Storm Chris... just looked at the latest on: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/alerts/vi.html. Probably won't be a huge deal at all, but definitely some rain and maybe flooding. Is anyone headed down there today or tomorrow???

I guess it must not be too big of an issue since no one has posted on it but since I am flying into St Thomas on Saturday to get married, I should pose the question. Does anyone know when the TS is suppose to hit the island?

I am scheduled to fly down Thursday morning. I am hoping that it doesn't fly down any more and make things difficult.

What's that tropical storm going to do to STT/STJ? Anyone heard any predictions? Looks like it's headed straight for the USVI'S!!!

There will be some rain and wind, but really we don't expect much of a problem. He'll be just a memory in a day or so. The big concern is the high waves it will create. It might break the mooring lines that hold the island in place and the two islands could end up as part of PR. (That was a joke folks)

We are worried because we are flying out this Saturday, with a stop-over in San Juan, before going on to St. Thomas. Though we were smart and bought trip insurance, it will break our hearts to have to cancel our trip. Let's pray that it will move off somewhere and do no harm. Take care, all you islanders!

This is the link to the previous information: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/alerts/vi.html

Scroll down to where it says Hurricane Local Statement and you'll get good information about what is expected the next 24 hrs as far as wind gusts, rain bands etc. Just thought this would help because someone mentioned traveling there tomorrow...

Hello,

Yes, we have been getting bands of rain, no big gust of winds yet. Heavy downpours and then light rain. (This is on St. Thomas.)

We have had blessedly cool breezes with the rain showers this evening. No need for a/c tonight. Wahoo!

Wel, he is gone and slowing down. May not even turn into a hurricane.
