We are staying at the Westin St John march 18-23, I would like to do Jost van Dyke either before or after this ,Any suggestion ? is it worth spending 2 nights there ?
Would fly in Saturday March 16 and stay Saturday and Sunday on Jost van dyke, ferry Monday AM to the Westin and then we need to stay somewhere else in St Thomas . Any suggestions I would love to hear from you

Good Morning,

My husband and I have been traveling to St John every year for the past 7 and this upcoming 2013 will be 8. We always spend 2 weeks on STJ and 2 weeks on Jost. Absolutely love Jost. We stay at Ivan's Stress Free Campground. We rent a cottage on the beach. It's four walls, a king size bed, fridge, fan and of course electricity. We wouldn't miss this part of our trip for anything. Jost is completely different than STJ, it's pretty much untouched by man with the exception of some really great beach bars and restaurants. Jost isn't for the traveler that wants tons to do as there isn't any tourist shops (there are local places to buy t-shirts and such), there is 2 very small grocery stores for getting simple staples. There are great people on the island that you can hang out with. Bring a good book and the idea of just hangin' out in a hammock or beach chair.

If you want more info I'd be happy to share.

Hi, bevhud! If you're still looking for places to stay on St. Thomas, I can give you some info. on the cottage we stayed in up north on Hull Bay. It was wonderful up there and I would highly recommend it. Just let me know! 🙂

Check the ferry schedule top right under "quick links". There is limited ferry service between STT and JVD and the latest ferry is at 2PM. Unless your flight arrives in the morning you won't make that ferry as the Red Hook terminal is about a 20-25 minute drive from the airport. Don't forget too that you need a passport to travel between the USVI and the BVI.

The direct ferry from STT to JVD is limited but don't let that scare you away from going to JVD, you can always get a ferry to Tortol;a and then over to JVD, it takes a few minutes longer but you can clear customs on Tortolla and then head right over to JVD. We've made the trip from STT to JVD in the late afternoon/evening as well as the earlier ones. It's possible and well worth the trip.
