first of all, let me say that it was a pleasure to meet some great VINOW.COM members
donna and steve from long island
dale and steve and joseph from oregon
sue and jim our secret harbour neighbors next door from boston
deb and barbara and family from michigan

and of course our old dear pals from st thomas
max and irene (more about them later in part two)
and island paul of course

A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO DONNA FROM ST THOMAS FOR MAKING A FABULOUS TAPE OF AMERICAN IDOL FOR US AND MAKING FIVE CRAZY TOURISTS VERY HAPPY! DONNA YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE WONDERFUL!!!

ok so we arrived friday with our two cousins who we talked into going ...they have never been to st thomas or even to the virgin islands before but have travelled all over the world....we were determined to get them to love secret harbour and st thomas st john like we do!
on arrival we were lucky to get a VAN(our 'other' cousins were arriving sunday so there would be six of us) even though we only reserved a small car from budget! they had ONE VAN so we grabbed it...especially since steve loves to drive around the island and play tour guide

we could already see that the island was busy with carnival fun....and arrived at secret harbour just in time to catch the girls at the desk before they left for the day...
one couple got the top most room at building four with a killer view! wow...
and we got a great beachfront room right near the beach bar...

we unpacked and headed straight for the marina market for some provisions...ran into henry at the meat counter(one of the greatest artists on the island...go see his work at the book store in red hook) was so great to see him again
coming out THE RAIN CAME...what a downpour! it turned into an all night storm but that didn't stop us from heading (soaking wet) to the blue moon for a great dinner...
during dinner the rain was so fierce that everyone had to move tables close to the kitchen....and in the distance you could see tornados or do you call them water spouts...we saw one for awhile and heard that to the west there were several more....at the same time we saw a cruise ship passing by close to the spout i bet it was a rocky ride...
back in the room the weather channel said RAIN RAIN RAIN for the next SEVEN DAYS!
sad!!!
so we prepared to have a week of fun eating and drinking and make the best of it...

in the morning.....the sun was out...
we ran into deb and barbara at the office they were planning a boat trip for monday on new horizons...
we set out to the beach and settle in for a lovely day
had great meals at the beach bar for lunch
and
noche was fantastic for dinner...IT IS AMAZING...brand new menu and better than ever...
we had filet mignon salad and tuna and steaks and great drinks and champagne...the bread pudding is enough for four people with ice cream
the atmosphere there is amazing....check the website if you can
the same owners as duffy's love shacks...
rain came again but we didn't care at this point...

to be continued i am off to sleep

part two is st john and MAFOLIE and shopping and the ritz!

Great start! Keep em coming! It's all I've got til I get there in November!! Concerning the rain, I think it's Jimmy Buffett in one of his songs that refers to "Another shitty day in paradise".....

Sounds like you had fun meeting up with others from this board. I'd like to meet up with anyone that's going in July. We'll be there from July 3 to July 11. Morningstar till the 8th, then Gallows Point until 11th. Just a casual drink one night.
