Ok so after 2 months of waiting it ended up coming quick..
May 29th, 2012
So my alarm goes off at about 3 and I was quite confused as to why it was going off at that hour..
"Oh yea! vacation!"
I started getting ready quickly, I put some clothes out the night before. Carrie, from work, was already calling saying she was on the way to take us to the airport. I started calling Naomi several times because we were going to pick her up after me, but no answer...UGH =)
On the way Naomi calls and says "why didnt you call me?!"
"We did! 100 times!"
"Ok, bye" She hung up and was ready to go when we got there haha.
We got on our flights quick and by 6:30 we were in the air. Stop in Miami and Puerto Rico and finally on our last leg
We landed in Charlotte Amalie and it was so exciting landing for the first time there wondering how close to the water you will actually get. So cool!
My cousin Jill, picked us up. She had some reggae music playing and we threw our bags in her trunk. Everything was so beautiful. We were so excited to be in this new exotic land and everything we saw filled us with amazement. Little did we know what was in store for us..
We headed over to Emerald beach on Lindbergh bay and had a burger and some drinks and I ran into the water! I knew it was sunset but I didnt care about any bugs...That water felt so amazing I wish I could feel that Caribbean water again for the first time. It was water that just...felt good!
We continued on to her house. The sun was down by now (we got in at 5:43) Through the dark windy roads I said I couldn't wait to see everything in the morning. We had a couple more cocktails then hit the hay. I dont know how I fell asleep..
5/30
Catamaran!
I woke up early...6ish I would say. I was so happy for what my eyes were seeing. An endless glittering sea! It had been so long since I so the ocean in all its glory and it was very cool!
I sat on the patio and watched a cruise ship come in (we were staying just up the hill from bluebeards beach club)
After taking an "island shower" we hopped in the car. The only thing, according to my cousin, that we needed was..
"A swimsuit, sunscreen, a sundress and a smile." Well I left the sundress haha.
We arrived at Sugar Bay and I was so excited to go on this boat trip with my friend Naomi and my cousin.
We walked down to the beach and checked out the grounds. Seems like they have done some nice upgrades I like the hotel!
The daydreamer catamaran came in sight...
We swam in the water for a bit met some new friends and then finally boarded the dinghy to get to the boat.
The day was amazing...
Unlimited drinks, nice conversation and beautiful 360 degree views of amazing landscape. The swimming was fun, the snorkeling was fun. We went over to St John and went by Mary's Point and Honeymoon beach. I LOVED honeymoon beach it so nice and relaxing.
After about 7 hours the boat returned to Sugar Bay and we went in the pool and had a drink.
Off to Coki Beach for a sunset swim!
It was very interesting to say the least...
I really enjoyed myself and thought the Caribbean party vibe was kinda cool and the Caribbean kids were so excited for a Frisbee we brought. It was fun. I also had my picture poorly drawn and I had the most delicious mango drink ever!
Well as luck would have it I ended up locking the keys...in my cousins car...on coki beach. I had NO shirt on and we had to go into town to find her husband, who may or may not be, at Island Time Pub...OMG I felt SO bad!!!!!
and NO SHIRT!
Ok lets think for a minute....So we are sitting on a picnic table trying to figure out what to do when all of a sudden I find a really nice Quicksilver rash guard sitting right next to me IN MY SIZE. I was like is this anyones? and all the rasta guys looked at me like I was showing them a pink sweater with fluffy poodles on it.
SCORE! I got a new shirt =) I actually used it all the next day to avoid getting sunburnt.
( I found that giving your skin adequate recovery time as well as lots of sunscreen helps to avoid any and all burns)
So we get to Island Time Pub by riding in the back of some dudes pick up truck (thank god my cousin is a seasoned local)
Oh on another note. All the locals we met were AMAZING. all SO friendly and informative and loving and so excited for us to be there even when they didnt know my cousin lived there. I think it really does go to show you that if you go anywhere with an attitude or an agenda it will show. Naomi and are were so excited to be in the islands and see people, they saw that. And a good morning/afternoon and especially a simple 'g'night' goes A LONG way!
Finally jills husband showed up with the keys and we got in the car and Naomi and I went to Duffys Love shack for a drink while my cousin took a nap.
Headed back to my cousins and hit the hay. Tomorrow is another day =)
stay tuned for more... :-p
and dont forget to check out my vacation music video it shows a lot of the catamaran trip..
